Reinvigorating a Mid-Campaign Effort for Northwest Community Hospital

Northwest Community Hospital Foundation (NCHF) is the foundation affiliated with Northwest Community Hospital (NCH). NCH is now part of Endeavor Health, a healthcare system comprised of five hospitals in the greater Chicagoland area. NCH entered a campaign several years ago to build a new cancer center. The campaign experienced early success and elevated its goal from $25 million to $50 million. Then many disruptions took place: the pandemic, joining the Endeavor Health system, changes in the location of the cancer center, and the addition of a neurological institute to the campaign-related plans.

Fissinger Fundraising was first retained by NCH in 2023 to conduct a mid-campaign assessment, which included an analysis of campaign progress to date, interviews with hospital leadership and foundation board members, meeting with key clinical staff, and external interviews with about 20 key stakeholders. This phase of the engagement culminated with delivery of the campaign assessment report, which was delivered to the NCHF board in early 2024. The campaign was reinvigorated, and 2024 was one of the most successful fundraising years in the Foundation’s history. The campaign continues now, and NCH expects to break ground on its new cancer and neuro facility in 2026.
